What's On at the Museum in 2018

The Gordon Highlanders Museum has a full programme of events throughout the year, and there is always something for everyone!

2018 sees our new exhibition in place commemorating and remembering the end of World War 1 a century ago.
'1918 - The End?' examines key actions that took place during WW1 in 1918 and the involvement of the Gordons. Unique artefacts and personal stories of Jocks and Officers of the Regiment will be displayed to tell the story of the unique contribution of the Gordons in the lead up to the Armistice of 1918, both on the Western Front and during the Italian campaign, 1917-1918.

The exhibition will also touch on the idea of remembrance, with a whole display case used to show different official and personal ways in which the war was commemorated, and will call into question the extent to which the cessation of hostilities was really ‘the end’ for soldiers and families in the North East and beyond?

These exhibitions will be on display from Tuesday 6th February through to, and including, Saturday 1st December.

Other notable events for 2018 see the return of Bonham’s, the Auctioneers, following the succesful talk and valuation days held last year. This year they come on the 28th February to deliver a very intersting talk abot the world of auctionewering and Scottish military weapons follwoed a day later by the very popular 'Valuation for a Donation' day

Along with the firm favourites of Pumpkin Carving (October), the Christmas Fayre and Santa’s Grotto (1st December) and our Volunteer Recruitment Days and many talks throughout the year, 2018 is going to be a great year for the Gordon Highlanders Museum and we hope you will be able to  enjoy it with us.

New events will be added throughout the year so keep checking back here to see new events added to the programme.
